A modern identity with the warmth of analog sound

VOL64 is a recording studio built inside an old industrial space, where every detail, from the wood panels to the analog gear, carries a sense of warmth and rhythm.

They didn’t have a name or a visual direction, so we started by defining what the brand should express: an analog, vintage atmosphere with a modern edge.

The identity exploration started with the symbol. I developed multiple options inspired by sound frequencies and analog motion.

After testing and client feedback, we filtered out directions that were too familiar or didn’t match the tone we wanted. The final choice struck the right balance between structure and emotion; modern in form, rooted in sound.

Early logo explorations, directions later discarded due to resemblance or tone mismatch.

This was my initial preferred direction refined, balanced and closely aligned with the concept. In the end, the client chose a slightly different version that still carried the same essence.

The final symbol builds on the same idea, sound in motion. Its form feels technical and balanced but still carries that analog warmth that defines VOL64.

Once the name appeared, everything connected: VOL64 came from the studio’s location, not Nintendo (though the coincidence made us smile 🤓). The full system combines structure and texture: clean lines, muted tones and subtle contrasts inspired by the studio’s materials and atmosphere.

The beige you see here works as an accent, not a base. In practice, the system relies on a simple mix of white, gray and black, keeping things clean and adaptable while preserving that analog feel.

Every detail in VOL64’s identity was built around the same feeling: warmth, rhythm and a sense of analog texture.

The photography captured that mood perfectly; light, grain and a bit of imperfection, like the equipment they use every day.

As an extra piece, I designed a small poster series for the studio space. Something more experimental and textural, playing with light and distortion while keeping the same visual pulse.

The website followed that same idea. Designed in Figma, it translated the system into a clear and minimal interface with strong typographic rhythm and a focus on real textures. The concept included interactive elements, like a TV set that reacts to hover states, showing different video frames and references.

Although the final build simplified some of these ideas, the design direction remained intact: a digital extension of the same analog warmth that defines VOL64.
